1970: Sustainable farm and gardening programs were developed.

 

  
 		  

Now: 30 family garden plots are offered each spring. A successful Community Supported Agriculture program finished its third year.
1974: The first volunteers were recruited to help at DNC.  
 		   Now: Over 500 individuals and corporate groups assist with animal care, restoration, office work, teaching and more...
1976: District 197 contracted three annual site visits for all students in grades K-6.  
 		   Now: Today, 100 schools schedule over 300 visits annually.
1977: Educational opportunities were expanded to the community through classes and events that included families.  
 		   Now: 3 community festivals are held annually-Frosty Fun, Farm Fest and Autumn Adventures. Family classes are held on weekends throughout the year.
1979: The 9 member Advisory Board grew to an 18 member Board of Directors.  
 		   Now: 28 members now voluntarily serve on the Board of Directors.
