- Start seedlings in the classroom and have a class reunion to
experience the fall harvest in the children’s garden
- Eat fried dandelion donuts (with sugar and cinnamon, of course)
- Read stories under blossoms in the apple orchard
- Pick apples in the fall
- Zip around on kick sleds on the frozen pond
- Climb all the way up “Challenge Hill” and be proud of the achievement
- Watch “Miss Chick” scratch in the dirt on the playground
- Look for the giant snapping turtle (also called “the sea serpent”) in the pond
- Experience maple sugaring and honey making, and learn about beekeeping
- Enjoy the beauty of our natural world

Did You Know?
Dodge is only 4 miles from downtown St. Paul. It is one of the most “urban” nature centers in the metropolitan area. |
Dodge Educational Farm
Our 40-acre working organic farm was an actual farm for nearly a hundred years before it became part of the Dodge Nature Center. At the farm, students experience hands-on learning about agriculture within an environmentally friendly context that emphasizes sustainability and land stewardship.
Students learn about soils and composting, syruping, sheep shearing, beekeeping and organic gardening. Our livestock includes cows, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens and horses. The Center strives to use sustainable energy in farm operations. We use a windmill to pump water and a solar panel to generate some of the electricity needed by our farm education building.
The World of Dodge
“A” is for apiary, aviary, and amphitheatre. “B” is for barn, bees, and bald eagle. Okay, we’ll stop there and let you take your own virtual tour of Dodge Nature Center from A-Z.
