Come be a part of the team connecting community to nature! Dodge volunteers engage people of all ages in environmental education by sharing their talents, ideas, and diversity of perspectives. Get started by filling out a volunteer application below.
For: Adults 18+
Time: Weekdays during the school year
Location: Main Property in West St. Paul
Assist in providing environmental education programs to school groups outdoors in every season. Engage students in farm and agricultural life, search for animal tracks and signs, and discover native Minnesota wildlife and plants.
Ages vary, but students are primarily in K–6th grade. Teaching experience is helpful but not necessary—enthusiasm is required! Training and feedback are provided by professional naturalist staff.
For: Ages 15+
Location: Main Property in West St. Paul or Shepard Farm in Cottage Grove
Spend your Saturday helping out at one of Dodge’s community events! Free or low-cost community events welcome new and familiar audiences to Dodge for seasonal environmental education and fun. Positions vary based on event—from flipping pancakes to playing boot hockey on the frozen pond, there’s an event for you.

For: Ages 15+
Time: Mid-June through early August. Camps run Monday–Thursday, 8:15 a.m.–3:15 p.m.
Location: Main Property in West St. Paul or Shepard Farm in Cottage Grove
Enjoy the rewarding experience of being a camp counselor by assisting with naturalist-led activities and acting as a role model for young campers. Help naturalist staff with camp preparation, activities, group management, and ensuring a memorable camper experience.
After submitting a volunteer application, staff will reach out for an informal interview. If accepted, new volunteers are required to attend an orientation/training in early June.
