"It takes a noble man to plant a seed for a tree that will some day give shade to people he may never meet." - David Trueblood

What a relevant quote to use when talking about gift-giving. There are many types of gifts one can make - gifts that benefit Dodge now and gifts that will benefit Dodge and it's participants in the future.

Click here to donate on-line now.

Cash. Gifts of money are always accepted and appreciated at Dodge. Whether an annual gift, money for scholarships, or a donation honoring an environmental occasion (like Earth Day), your contribution helps us carry out our mission here at Dodge, to be "an educational nature preserve where people of all ages can experience, study, and enjoy nature, and in so doing be inspired to become responsible stewards of our environment."

Stock. Giving of stock to Dodge is another way to contribute. Call Chris at 651.789-5218 for more information.

Memorials. A memorial gift to a non-profit organization like Dodge is a thoughtful, caring way to show your support. The name of a loved one can be added to our Memorial Givving Tree with accumulated gifts in their memory of $500 or more.

Honorariums. Opportunities to give gifts in honor of others come in all shapes and sizes as well. A donation in someone's honor, or a wooden bench placed along one of our many trails with a plaque are just two of the limitless honorarium ideas. A memorial giving tree, sponsored by the Solum family, will be installed in our Farm Education Building. If you would like a loved one to have a leaf engraved with their name, a $500 donation in one lump sum, or in combination, is required.

In-Kind. Gifts given in-kind are also wonderful ways to support the Nature Center. Current items on our "wish list" include: a digital camera, large ladders, livestock trailer, gardening tools, spotting scope, color printer, storage containers with lids, outdoor microscopes, bear skin and working canoe. Call the office at 651.455.4531 if you have an item you wish to donate.

Bequests. It's never too early to plan and never too late to leave a legacy. By making a provision in your will to benefit Dodge Nature Center, you help to ensure that your children and grandchildren experience Dodge for years to come. Listed below is language for three different ways to leave a charitable gift in your will:

Specific Bequest. "I give, devise, and bequeath to the Thomas Irvine Dodge Nature Center $________ (state sum of money or otherwise describe security or property) to be placed in the Nature Center's endowment fund."

Residuary Bequest. "I give, devise, and bequeath to the Thomas Irvine Dodge Nature Center all (or ___%) of the residue of the property owned by me to my death, real and personal and wherever situate, to be placed in the Nature Center's endowment fund."

Contingent Bequest. "If any of the above named beneficiaries should predecease me, I hereby give his or her share of my estate to the Thomas Irvine Dodge Nature Center to be used for its general uses and purposes."

Please contact your financial advisor or attorney so that you can include Dodge in your estate plan.

Endowments. There are currently eight endowed chair positions at Dodge Nature Center, five of which have key positions open for ensuring salaries in perpetuity. The three filled chairs include:
-The Robert Eugene Peterson Head Naturalist Endowed Position and
-The Oliver and Vivian Price Farm Education Chair
-The Mrs. Olivia I. Dodge Volunteer Chair.

Become a member of The Egret Society! A new planned giving soicety has been created to recognize those who have made planned gifts to DNC through their estate plans. Named after the Great Egret, society membership is as elite, admired and significant as the symbol is to the nature center. Join the legacy Mrs. Dodge created 40 years ago!
