European Buckthorn is a persistent threat to the health of Minnesota's woods. Join Dodge naturalists to learn how to identify buckthorn and various ways to manage its spread. You'll gather gear and go into the woods to practice some hands-on ways to eliminate this invasive species. Craft your own buckthorn walking stick from the trees you remove.
Gloves and safety glasses provided. Children ages 2 and under are free. Preregistration is required.
This program will be held outdoors, with CDC and MN Department of Health procedures in place. Please dress for the weather. Because of the group setting, face masks are required for your visit and use of hand sanitizer is encouraged.
We allow exemptions for those who have medical or other health conditions, disabilities or mental health, developmental, or behavioral needs that make it difficult to tolerate wearing a face covering. Please email or call us in advance of your program if this exemption applies to you or your child. We will create a plan with you that will ensure the safety of other program attendees and staff while allowing you to participate. Children between the ages of 2 and 5 years old are not required to wear face coverings, but are encouraged to wear a face covering if they can do so without frequently touching or removing it.
