Outdoor Learning Days: As Winter Comes (Grades 3-5)

  • An event every week at 8:15am on Wednesday, starting December 9, 2020 and repeating until December 16, 2020

Registration for this program is closed. View the Activities Calendar for more upcoming programs.

Leaves have fallen; days are growing shorter. Let’s gear up and get outside to celebrate the coming of winter. Head into the woods to explore and build your own hibernation dens, go down to the pond to measure the first ice, and prowl the prairie for signs that animals are still active as it gets colder. Practice fire-building skills for a pre-solstice bonfire and cookout. Hands-on, minds-on activities will energize the inner learner of each child each week. You’ll learn, explore, and play the Dodge Nature Center way!

What are Outdoor Learning Days?

Outdoor Learning Days are a series of programs for children in Grades 1-2 and Grades 3-5, similar to camps. Due to the COVID-19, many schools are operating in a hybrid or distance learning model. When students are not attending school in-person, Outdoor Learning Days at Dodge Nature Center will offer enrichment and excitement in the outdoor classroom.

There is one two-week series offered for Grades 1-2 and Grades 3-5:
Grades 1-2: As Winter Comes (December 9 and 16)
Grades 3-5: As Winter Comes (December 9 and 16)

How do I register?

1. Fill out the Student Registration Form. This form contains important information such as emergency contacts and health concerns.
2. Select the appropriate grade level (listed above) and complete payment on the bottom of the page. Payment is only required once for the series.
