Outdoor Learning Days: School of Rocks (Grades 1-2, Thursday Series)

  • An event every week at 8:15am on Thursday, starting October 29, 2020 and repeating until November 12, 2020

Attention budding geologists! Come to Dodge for three days to unearth the rocks under your feet. Throughout each Outdoor Learning Day, students will explore how volcanoes work, discover how streams and landslides shape the land, dig clay to use for projects, hunt for rocks to add to their collection, and use rocks to help start a cookout. Hands-on, minds-on activities will energize the inner learner of each child every week. You'll learn, explore, and play the Dodge Nature Center way!

What are Outdoor Learning Days?

Outdoor Learning Days are a series of programs for children in Grades 1-2 and Grades 3-5, similar to camps. Due to the COVID-19, this fall many schools are operating in a hybrid or distance learning model. When students are not attending school in-person, Outdoor Learning Days at Dodge Nature Center will offer enrichment and excitement in the outdoor classroom.

There are two three-week series offered for Grades 1-2 and one three-week series offered for Grades 3-5:

Grades 1-2: Wednesday Series (October 28, November 4, and November 11)
Grades 1-2: Thursday Series (October 29, November 5, and November 12)
Grades 3-5: Wednesday Series (October 28, November 4, and November 11)
