Visit the Activities Calendar for more upcoming programs.\n\nJoin Silvae Spiritus Nature & Forest Therapy\, certified by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs\, for a guided forest bathing experience!  \nForest bathing is a slow-moving\, deeply sensory\, mindful and “bodyful” walk in nature that has shown to result in measurable physiological\, cognitive\, and emotional benefits. Much like walking meditation or yoga\, these activities can be practiced on one’s own\, almost anywhere\, and yet the benefits greatly increase with regular practice. Forest bathing is significantly more immersive when facilitated by properly trained and certified guides—you’ll be guided by an expert through this program!   \nOver the course of this walk\, you will be given a series of invitations and suggested ways to connect to your natural surroundings. This experience will be mostly silent\, honors each participant’s personal space\, and covers just about 1.5 miles over generally flat surfaces.  \nAt the end of each invitation\, the group will have an opportunity to share a few words of reflection\, integrating the experience both internally and within community. The walk concludes with tea and light snacks.  \n

Using forge\, hammer\, and anvil\, you’ll learn core blacksmithing techniques such as tapering\, shaping\, and texturing.  \nAligned with the energy of the summer solstice\, this class invites lightness\, focus\, and presence into the forging process. The hummingbird carries deep spiritual symbolism across many cultures. It often represents joy\, resilience\, adaptability\, and the ability to find sweetness even in moments of intensity. Learn beekeeping from Dodge staff at Shepard Farm in Cottage Grove. You’ll work bees throughout the entire season\, starting from a new package in spring\, harvesting honey at summer’s end\, and preparing the hives for winter.   \nProtective gear (bee suit\, gloves\, and veil) is required to work in the hives. Participants must provide their own gear. We recommend Mann Lake Bee & Ag Supply for gear needs. \n

DESCRIPTION:Join blacksmithing instructor Lee Meilleur from Chicago Avenue Fire Arts Center for a one-day blacksmithing workshop at Dodge’s forge at Shepard Farm!  \nGet a taste of blacksmithing as it’s been done throughout the ages in this introductory workshop\, designed with newcomers in mind. You’ll learn about traditional methods and equipment\, including the coal forge\, hammer\, tongs\, and anvil. Practice your technique by forging an S hook\, a J hook\, or a shape that has yet to be invented. Feel the force when shaping molten metal!  \nNo experience necessary. All materials and consumables included in class cost.  \nAbout the Instructor  \nLee Meilleur has seven years of blacksmithing and metalwork experience and has trained at CAFAC\, North House Folk School\, The Guild of Metalsmiths\, Saint Paul College\, and The Hack Factory. He is an instructor with The Guild of Metalsmiths and volunteers at the Minnesota Transportation Museum\, where he contributes to blacksmithing and fabrication projects. Lee values collaboration and enjoys working with others to create\, restore\, and teach. His dedication to craftsmanship and community drives his passion for preserving and sharing the art of metalwork \n
